Ken’s e-Pistle

November 15, 2023

There is a very interesting word in our heritage which colors our daily struggle.  It comes from the Hebrew and is transliterated, “timshel.” It means, “You may.”  Or, “You may be.”  Or simply, “Maybe”

It is the root of our free will and first appears in the conversation between God and Cain when the choice is laid before him between choosing the good which is before him or the evil which lurks at the door.  It is a choice which continues to this day and is made by each of us innumerable times.

Into the midst of our freedom comes responsibility or, as I like to call it, “response-ability.” We can choose to respond or not to the various factors in our lives which come before us.  How we choose will determine, to one extent or another, the path of our days.

This Sunday is our Stewardship Dedication.  We will choose how we shall respond to God’s on-going presence in our lives.  It is a timshel moment.  Full of both potential and consequence. Please give prayerful consideration to your participation in our joint ministry in the Kingdom.

I bid you peace!
