Nicole’s e-Pistle “Car Accident”

January 28, 2026

Hello, Friends!

Yesterday, Tuesday, January 27th, I was involved in an automobile accident that totaled my red van.  Another driver failed to fully stop at the intersection of Poplar Springs and Reed Rd. I was heading southbound on Reed Road toward the church when the other driver plowed into the front and driver’s side of my vehicle. Despite my attempts to avoid being hit, the impact knocked me off the road and into a ravine, where I crashed head-on into an embankment.

Two bystanders climbed (and slid) down the hill to help me get out of my van, as I was too shaken to be able to open the driver’s side door wide enough to get out. Within minutes of the three of us helping each other back up the hill to the road, Whitfield County Sheriff’s Deputies, Georgia Patrol, Fire, and EMTs arrived to assess the situation and ascertain my injuries. Because of the severity of impact to my vehicle, the ambulance took me to the ER at Hamilton.

I am so grateful for the staff at Hamilton Medical for their care and kindness. I had X-rays done on my legs and left shoulder, where I had the most pain and bruising, and a CT scan done on my neck where the seat belt did its job. So far, blood flow seems to be moving along just fine, and thankfully, there were no broken bones. Apart from a skinned knee, an enormous amount of bruising on my legs from the lower air bags, and feeling like I was hit by a car… I am okay. I thank God for keeping me safe, as I am acutely aware of how much worse it could have been.

The other driver checked on me at the scene just before the officers arrived. She seemed shaken, as well as remorseful. Later, at the ER, it appeared that the same EMTs who brought me in the ambulance arrived with her, and she was given a room across the hall from me. I pray that she also sustained only minor injuries.

As for me, I have been prescribed a little recovery time at home, so my schedule this week will be different. I look forward to returning to my normal schedule and ministry as soon as possible. In the meantime, please be careful out there, and know that I love you all and can’t wait to see you again soon!

Blessings and peace,
