Nicole’s e-Pistle

July 3, 2024

Well, friends, we’ve made it! After weeks of preparation and months of anticipation, the Jiskoots have arrived, and we could not be more thrilled!

I cannot begin to describe the welcome we have felt, even before our arrival this past weekend. So many of you have reached out to me through emails, via Facebook, or through a good-ole-fashioned handwritten card, and I feel truly blessed to be part of this community.

I would like to extend my gratitude to the “Best. Ken. Ever.” as well! I can tell by reading Ken’s recent e-Pistles how much you all have meant to him, and I am so grateful for his service to this community. I was fortunate to have been able to sit down with him at a local sandwich shop in town about a month or so ago, and his fondness for you all was palpable! While I am just entering this season of ministry, I cannot imagine the joy and angst of being an interim pastor, especially to a faith community such as FPC Dalton.

As many of you know, I was researching this congregation from a distance on the database called the “Church Leadership Connection,” or the CLC, months before I was allowed to reach out to your Pastor Nominating Committee. When talks grew serious and the PNC extended an offer to me, I made sure they knew that I planned to be here for the long haul! I had already fallen in love with First Pres. Dalton, and I know in my heart that my family and I have found a home away from home here.

As I begin to settle into this new position, I invite you to reach out to me (perhaps not all at once) and let me know more about you as individuals and as a congregation. My greatest joy and field of study this year will be in getting to know you as a family of faith. I look forward to sitting down with each of you in the coming months over coffee, a meal, or just some time of fellowship in the church office, and I cannot wait to see you all on Sunday morning for our first worship service together!

With love in Christ,
